Artists MEREDITH PARDUE AND MIKE HEWETT debuted their collaboration with their Trees in Isolation series in 2017, exploring themes of individuality and historical portraiture by combining their distinctly different styles on a shared canvas. In 2018 Pardue Hewett began their second series titled Butterflies in Flight, organic compositions comprised of abstracted butterflies symbolizing metamorphosis and fleeting moments. The Butterflies in Isolation series was created in 2024 and features SCULPTURAL bas-relief paintings of individual butterflies in iconic compositions. The ethereal and iridescent coloration of the butterfly forms drastically contrasts with the densely painted encaustic grounds, alluding to the contrasting themes of permanence and transience.
